Some time while you are working with MS Outlook, you may have face lot of errors related to PST files. “Specified the path of file Outlook.pst is not valid” error is one of them.
In this time, I am explaining you one more error and give you the resolution of this error message.
Let’s discuss the error: Specified the path of file \Outlook.pst is not valid
Maybe you face another message on the screen, but the resolution of these errors are quite often same. Few other pops up error messages like-
- Not a valid .pst
- PST is not an Outlook Data File (.pst)
- Outlook.pst is not a valid PST file
- PST file is not valid personal folders file
In that case, while you are getting “the specified PST path not a valid error”, you typed the new path for PST, and one or more folders in the path you specified do not exist. To resolve this error you need to give a path where there is an existing folder or make a folder by navigating before going with windows messaging setup wizard.
And now copy your PST file to another location and choose this PST file by opening your Outlook.
- Open the outlook
- Click on “File” tab
This is a suitable method to resolve this error, and import & export option not necessary.
Note: You can create a new profile in outlook and assign the PST file to this profile. Creating a new profile fix a lot of Outlook problem.

If the problem still exists its mean your PST file got corrupted due to any reason. To repair a corrupt PST file you may use ScanPST.exe, a free tool provided by Microsoft. This tool is helpful to resolve the minor level of corruption issues.

If your PST file is highly damaged that time you can use a 3rd party solution. As per my own opinion, I will suggest using MailsDaddy. It’s come with a demo and paid application. You can choose as you want, but I will suggest you use paid version for accessing full features to recover corrupt PST with 100% success results.
